The nigella seed and burnt onion hummus was so tasty! As were the other dishes, however the hummus stood out the most. Also the zhug sauce was great, as the spice help cut through the oiliness of the eggplant moussaka. Only thing that wasn’t quite my taste was the pita bread, as I like mine a bit more charred on the outside. Overall service and atmosphere was great. It gets full very quickly so do plan ahead or go early as they don’t take reservations.
Very friendly staff, food was very healthy and not salty. The waitress allowed us to try different spices with the hummus. The Zhung Sangria was really good, and the tahini ice cream was extremely creamy. Also the cod cake was very soft inside and crispy outside. I got swept in the great food and ambience that I forgot to take pictures of all the dishes, but would highly recommend!
Beautiful modern space with incredible food! The staff was friendly and welcoming! Loved that there are some many veggie and gluten free options (sometimes it difficult to find both together). Everything was beautifully presented and delicious! I tried several things and loved them all. The muhamarra with walnuts was very fresh, not too spicy, but extremely savory and pretty. Served with fresh flatbread. The beets were so yummy, surprising textures, and a great combination of flavors. The crispy mustard seed was sooo tasty! The forbidden rice and lentils was warm and comforting. I sat at the bar and watched the bartender make so many of the carrot mango rum cocktail that I had to have one myself… it was fresh, bright, and refreshing! Highly recommend this spot as a happening location for meeting friends or a nice date night. Enjoy!
Their food, my God... everything I ordered was phenomenal. Upon first bite, I had a surprised look on my face with each new dish I tried, as the flavor and texture combinations were simply amazing (e.g., warm white beans, beets, cauliflower).
They have a fabulous wine/ cocktail menu, and the service was excellent as well; hostess, bartenders, servers - all were exceptional. Though the atmosphere is nice, the dining area can be quite loud.
Amazing experience with the food, please call before showing up. The wait time is ridiculous and it’s an upwards to two hour Wait for a small table. I would say come with friends and family before 6 PM for a good spot inside the restaurant anything after 630 is most likely an hour long wait. The drinks are fantastic. Here we purchased two drinks one with gin and the other one was a Mocktail.
This place is more of a tapas so if you’re coming with a large party, you’re definitely most likely ordering two plates per person. We ordered around 7-8 dishes for three people, but it’s because we’re out of town and we wanted to try what Zhug had to offer.
The zucchini salad, and the shrimp option are definitely top choices for us. There was also the hummus option that we chose, and it was between three hummus options, and we chose the one with apricot and lamb, which was one of the best tasting hummus, combos I’ve had in a really long time . Our waitress was extremely nice and she gave us pita bread to go because we had so much hummus left over, mind. The pita bread is unlimited at this place.
I don’t think I would order the chicken option again just because it just taste like salt and pepper, squid button, chicken form and then the sauce is a little sweet, but also salty.
The potatoes weren’t some thing that we wanted to try, I read a review that said the potatoes in the sauce make up most of the meal. So that’s why I ordered it.
Also, the Zhug sauce was really good and also spicy, we think it contained a little bit of wasabi mixed in with chives.
A definite must try in Cleveland!
We had a 2 hour wait to get in as they don't take reservations, the wait was definitely worth it. We tried 8 small plates and almost each one was perfect. The octopus, cod, fried chicken were excellent. The vibe inside and the service was great as well. I think it's best to visit this restaurant on the weekdays and show up at 4pm so you don't have a crazy long wait. The cocktails were good too. We will definitely visit again but probably on a weekday!
Along with nearby L’albatros, one of the best restaurants in Cleveland. Went for dinner and had Lamb Hummus with unlimited pita, roasted carrots, and octopus with purple potatoes.
One of my favorite restaurants. Have been there twice and never fails to disappoint me. Will definitely go there again. Octopus dish is one of the best I have ever had. Chicken tender literally melt in your mouth - A must try too. They don’t take reservation. We went there Saturday around 6pm but ended up waiting 2 hr to get seat. But it’s a worth wait.
